Warehouse LED Lighting Standards And Regulations

Industry Standards and Regulations (Mandatory Compliance)

OSHA Standards (USA)

  • General industrial warehouse minimum illuminance: 20 lumens/sq.ft (200 Lux) (for aisles and non-precision work areas).

  • Precision operation areas: Recommended ≥ 50 lumens/sq.ft (500 Lux).

IESNA (Illuminating Engineering Society of North America) Standards

  • Storage areas: 100 - 300 Lux (10 - 30 lumens/sq.ft).

  • Sorting/packaging areas: 300 - 1000 Lux (30 - 100 lumens/sq.ft).

China GB 50034-2013 (Architectural Lighting Design Standard)

  • General warehouse: 100 - 200 Lux (10 - 20 lumens/sq.ft).

  • Large logistics warehouse: 200 - 300 Lux (20 - 30 lumens/sq.ft).

  • Precision product warehouse: 300 - 500 Positives (30 - 50 lumens/sq.ft).

Safety and Compliance Supplements

Emergency Lighting

  • All warehouses must have emergency lighting with illuminance ≥ 10 Lux (1 lumen/sq.ft), with a minimum power supply duration of ≥ 90 minutes (complying with fire safety standards).

Glare Control

  • Forklift traffic zones and manual operation areas must avoid direct light into workers’ eyes. Use diffuse lampshades or anti-glare grilles (UGR ≤ 25).

Illuminance Uniformity

  • Work area uniformity (minimum illuminance/average illuminance) ≥ 0.7 to avoid visual fatigue due to uneven lighting.
